About me

HELLO! MY NAME IS VICTORIA MOROZ.
I am an interpreter from English into Ukrainian. My main objective in interpreting is to find a common language with foreign partners during negotiations, help them sign favorable contracts and pursue the reforms in Ukraine.
Now, due to Russian aggression in Ukraine, I live and work in the Republic of Ireland under a temporary protection directive.
Until February 24, 2022, I lived in Kyiv, Ukraine, I used to travel all-over Ukraine, and often worked as an English-Ukrainian interpreter abroad.
Since 2020 I mostly have been working online.
I have been interpreting professionally for 17 years so far.
THE ROAD OF A PROFESSIONAL INTERPRETER
In 2000, I entered the Donetsk Institute of Social Education to major in “Translation”, and chose two languages – English and Spanish. During the first three years, practicing interpreters mentored us, they shared their experience, told us about the subtleties of the profession.
I studied with pleasure, learned quickly, and spent a lot of time developing my speaking skills. Among the teachers were native English speakers.
SIX YEARS IN HEAVY INDUSTRY
In 2005, shortly after graduating, I started my career as an English translator and interpreter at one industrial company where my duty was to translate technical instructions, visit the factories and accompany the negotiations at the office.
Technical vocabulary, industry, interpretation were interesting for me, and soon I got the opportunity to gain more experience. After getting qualifications in a large corporation, I went to the United Arab Emirates, where the company was building a rolling mill.
Together with two colleagues, I accompanied the work of 14 Ukrainian engineers. We helped them to communicate with UAE partners, local officials and their co-workers. During this period, I actively combined translation and interpretation concerning some complex subjects:
- Construction;
- Operation of the enterprise;
- Metallurgy;
- Engineering;
- Power supply.
Upon my return to Ukraine, I spent two and a half years as a technical director assistant at the SABMiller brewery in Donetsk. My boss had 400 employees, and only four of them spoke English.

On some days, I had to interpret for 5-6 hours. I accompanied the visits of technical experts, interpreted conferences/board meetings. Due to that experience, I broadened and consolidated the skills acquired in the UAE.
Later, I tried myself in the largest metallurgical holding in Ukraine – «Metinvest». Here I started interpreting simultaneously and worked at employee conferences, steering committees and board meetings.
Suddenly, I realized that I could get ahead, but I needed a break to improve the second foreign language. In 2011 I won a grant to study Communications and PR at the University of Cadiz. I lived in Spain for a year and after returning to Ukraine I started my freelance career: I offered the interpreting services from the English and Spanish languages.

ELEVEN YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL FREELANCING
Until December 2014, I had lived in Donetsk, a city where since April of the same year, translations at factories and in cozy offices have been replaced by the trips to hotspots with journalists of the world media such as Al Jazeera English, ВВС and Daily Telegraph.
My experience drew international interest, and in May 2015 I gave a presentation «The role of an interpreter in the military conflict» at the BP15 Translation Conference Zagreb.
After moving to the capital, I focused on cooperation with business and international organizations and succeeded as a Ukrainian interpreter. I translated trainings, conferences, Ukrainian delegations abroad, business meetings, worked a lot with the topics of energy supply, combating disinformation, marketing and sales.
A NEW CHAPTER
On February 24, 2023, Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine forced me to move once again. In April 2023, I moved with my family to Ireland.
I became a member of the Irish Translators and Interpreters Association (ITIA). I provide interpreting and translation services into Ukrainian in Ireland as a sole trader, I pay taxes in Ireland and continue to pay them in Ukraine, I work online with clients from the European Union, Ukraine and Great Britain, I also travel around Ireland and the European Union.
